It will take place on Monday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Moses received the Torah on Mt. Sinai more than three thousand years ago, Maimonides simplified the Code of Law 2400 years later. That very same information, preserved almost verbatim across the centuries, is studied today by Jews the world over. How was this remarkable feat accomplished? Join Rabbi Lazer Gurkow as he traces the fascinating history of the Oral Tradition. From Sinai to Jerusalem, Warsaw to New York, through exiles and wars, rebellions and pogroms, the Oral Tradition was transmitted from generation to generation. A small but dedicated group of rabbis succeeded in preserving the Torah's integrity. Rabbi Lazer Gurkow is Rabbi and spiritual leader of congregation Beth Tefilah in London, Ontario. A gifted orator, he has lectured extensively on a variety of Jewish topics throughout the country. His prolific articles have appeared in many Jewish publications and he is a regular contributor to a host of interactive Jewish websites. This lecture will take place Monday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Shaloh House- 50 Ethyl Way in Stoughton. It is the final lecture in the series on the life of Maimonides presented at Shaloh House Chabad, in conjunction with the "Journey with Maimonides Jewish Family Expo" presented by Shaloh House Chabad last February, commemorating the 800th anniversary since the death of Maimonides.
