how many times have shluchim brought baalei batim, or chassidishe fathers brought their children to the rebbe's shul,and the response is "ah! i know this place iswhere the rebbe is. there is where the rebbe would daven, and there is where the rebbe would farbreng..." if we let therebbe's shul be destroyed even if it will be rebuilt "l'shem ul'tiferes" i think that yatza scharah behefseda. because how much mamushus does seeing the rebbe's shul add to a childs feeling for the rebbe if we take that away...? let the building where the rebbe is now be the same building as where the rebbe was then.

when they were originally planning the expantion of 770 the rebbe was involved and there are manu horaois from the rebbe as to what it should look like and height and all the rest if onlythose letters can be made public for all to see so we can know what the rebbe wanted

This is the best thing that can happen, as I am sure that ,like every other project, this will get stalled in the middle and will be a hole in the ground for ten years which is much better than what is there today.

How nice it would be to have a beautiful shule for 770. I highly doubt it will ever happen. Too much politics which will stop any such activities.

What should be done now is that everything in the shule be taken and stripped down to the bare walls and redone all over. Most of the bentches and other furnitue is over 30 years old and very heavlly used.

and nobody asked anyone for their comments then no comments are needed now, there are always people against anything good and it shows, the Rebbe alway stressed that if anything keeps from something becoming Maseh Bpoel, is the sitra achrah , open your eyes, teach your children the rebbes Maamarim and sichos and give them a chasidishe upbringing and as far as i saw on the diagrams there is a place for the Rebbes shtender and for the farbraingen bimah, Chasidim Brider, lets all get together have Achuds and the Rebbe will decide for him self wether it's befitting or not!

Aside from all the spiritual, nostalgic issues - what about the practical? The exterior is pitiful to say the least and it does not at all complement the neighborhood architecture and 770. Will there be a referendum vote on this? I think we need to let the Rebbe establish the agenda.

i am having a hard time understanding why everyone in lubavitch thinks th at we dont deserve to have a nice place as our core?

אין כמו 770 האותנטי שהיה לנו עשרות שנים! עניין הצפיפות נכון וע"כ אפשר להרחיב ולהשאיר את 770 על תיקונו.חבל שיראה כמו ביהכנ"ס של בעלז

A good chassidishe shul needs lots of tables for learning and placing various davening paraphenelea also needed is easy access to chairs .No more climbimg over people or not even bothering to sit down because their is no access to the seating .

In the second picture you can see the place of the Rebbe for Davenning in the top left corner, and a few benches behind it you can see a big platform, the rebbe's farbrengen bima.

The main problem is, that they are changing the setup of 770, every detail that the rebbe picked, it starts from removing the chandeliers the rebbe paid for and never returning it, and now they are removing the actual 770.

also, the plans approved by the rebbe you can see a different plan for 770 (the gutnick plan) which keeps the original structure of 770, but extends it all the way to union, without changing the way 770 is.

it seems that only DREK that did not go on shlichus whant to have say in the builing of 770!!!
go on shllichus and build your own 770 and leave the building of 770 to thos who know what the rebbe wanted , most never did ANEYTHING for the rebbe

We need a 770 where people can fit and benefit from being in Beis Chayenu. There will always be some pushing and discomfort but that goes with the turf. What shocks me is that of all the comments, little is spoken of the remarkable improvement we must make for the ezras nashim . It is literally impossible for hundreds. maybe thousands, of women to spend a serious amoount of time in 770 during Tishrei due to the lack of space. I am not sure that the Rebbe wanted them to have to push and fight either. This plan has the advantage over the Gutnik plan that the women will have two tiers on bthe sides and in the back of the shul. Signs or no signs, beams or no beams, the same exact farbrengen and bimah space, etc., these are all nice considerations but lets look at the NECESSITIES. Also, seat plans and standing space are flxible. The drawings are obviously done by someone who thinks thatwe want a romy seating area for EVERY individual in the shul.

In summary, the drawings show a true and sincere attempt to honor the Rebbe, Lubavitch, and World Jewry. Think of that beofre you knock it.

Until now I have read all the statements with a mixture of disbelief and dissappointment But to your statement i MUST respond. I am NOT drek and I take issue with you calling me that. NOt all the people living in ch did not want to go on shlichus. some were not given the oppurtunity while others are not cut out for it. Most are decent members of this community,supporting the businesses, buying houses,bringing up chassidishe children and paying memberships to their shul (770) only to have it destroyed by outsiders who come here on their cheshbon and then have the audacity to wreck the place. As a man (i assume you are, a woman would not speak like that.)you could not understand what it feels like upstairs so let me explain:There is no room to sit or stand. You can not hear the chazzan and the smell that comes from downstairs is ....revolting to say the least.There is a wall of women looking down so only those willing (and able) to fight can actually get through to see anything. I for one would love to daven in 770 and take my children there. but to those who are worried about what to show their children in terms of the rebbes shul right now there is notihing to seeIts about time we crown heigtsers did something for ourselves. We need a shul to be proud of . a shul to actually DAVEN in and while i think that this particular plan is a bit cold its a start!! lets all band together and make this a reality .

Finally something has come up which looks like an improvement on the Chabad headquarters and indeed the Beis Hamikdash "haynu beis rabeinu she'b'bave"I applaud the effort to make 770 a more appropiate headquarters
What disturbs me is the amount of opposition. Why are so many people opposed to change? Do they think that right 770 is a beutiful shul where everyone can come and daven like a mentch. Guess what??? It's not!!! For those who complain, please do it quietly and dont disturb the holy work of those who want to make a nice shul for the rebbe. One more thing, those who complain about tables, tallis bags and hoshanos, please be realistic, this is only a sketch and obviously when with Hashem help it will be built all of these issues will be dealt with. These plans are not set in stone.

I also live in CH, and I i disagree to #88. BUT WE MUST NEVER LOOK AT 770 AS *OUR SHUL* . ITS NOT A COMMUNITY SHUL!! AND WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO CHANGE ANYTHING HERE. as a cild i remember a storyabout a man that came to the rebbe in yecidus and asked why 770 look like it does but when you go to the shluchim and chabad around the world it looks so much nice and better but when you come to the world wide headqurters ,it a beasment ,ppl are sleeping onb benches food and mashkah all over ?

Nevetheless, the Rebbe did very much encourage the construction and beautification of 770 so that it befits an edifice of "beis rabeinu shebobavel" and eventually, possibly even as the "beis mashiach". Though renovations for 770 have begun almost 15 years ago, they have halted ever since the dark day of 3 Tamuz. Evr since, not much has been done to add to the beautification of 770.

Reb Sholom Ber, we fully support your wonderful work in putting the Reebs shul back into place and wish you the best of luck in that endeavor.
